ITB with AB #14: Story Time 2

What's in the Box:

Hey everyone one remember that new thing I did with the blog last week well I'm doing it again this week. I was able to get another story done in time two have Story Time back to back weeks and I hope everyone enjoys this story as much or more than last weeks. So open up the box and take a look inside!

Story Box:

So this story takes place in the same universe as last weeks story. My current plan is to get around ten stories that take place in this universe and attempt to get the collection published. With that being said I present to you all, To The Grave.

To The Grave

by Adam Bach

I walk into The Rosetta, a little dive bar on the west end of town, I take a seat at the bar and signal to the bartender. I order a whiskey, take a sip and set it down. I look at my watch, 7:05 PM. I glance up at the television and there is a baseball game on the screen. Tampa is on top of New York but I really can’t muster up the interest. I down the rest of my whiskey and order another, making sure to ask for the Irish whiskey this time and not that Tennessee shit. I look at my watch again, “He’s late.”

A rather young looking man with a messenger bag walks into the bar. He has short brown hair and is of average height and weight. You would never notice this man if you weren’t expecting him. He walks up to me and annoyingly asks, “Excuse me are you the ancestor of Arlo Jenkins I’m here to meet?” I take a swig of my whiskey before I reply, “Yes.” He takes a seat at the bar and orders a light beer. He opens his bag and pulls out a notebook and a pen. He places them on the bar and turns to me, “Hello I’m Jason Ray.” He has his hand out, clearly looking for a handshake. I glance over at him and take another swig of whiskey. Jason awkwardly retracts his hand and starts his spiel, “I’m doing a story on Civil War figures for The Daily Historian, so I’m here to listen to any stories or facts you want to share about your ancestor.” I glance up at the television again; Tampa is still on top headed into the 9th. I finish off my whiskey and place the glass on the bar. I finally turn and make eye contact with the reporter, “Get ready to write.” Jason grabs his pen and notebook. I order another whiskey and clear my throat.

“Captain Arlo Jenkins was a grizzly man, with tangled black hair, and a beard that was starting to grey. The Captain had fought proudly for the Confederate Army during the days of the American Civil War. The War took its toll on Capt. Jenkins, and to say he came out unscathed would be a foolish comment. The Captain lost the use of his left eye during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863, when rocky debris from a cannon shot struck his face. He walked with a limp due to a bayonet wound on his right leg he received in a battle during 1864. Arlo quickly earned a reputation among the other Greycoats as the top marksmen in the Confederate Army, and was made a member of the Confederate Secret Service. He was a man used to death, even before his days in the War. He and his wife Prudence had many children. They had their first child, Elise, in 1851. Henry was born in 1852, but passed away two months later. They would birth two more boys in ’53 and ’55, but neither would live past the age of four. Then, in March of 1856, Prudence gave birth to their fourth boy. They would name him Edward. Edward was the first child of Arlo and Prudence’s that shared her blonde hair and blue eyes. Prudence would pass away three years later in 1859, devastating Arlo. Any good that was left in the Memphis man’s heart died along with her.”

Jason interrupts my tale to order another beer. I glance around the bar, and notice the decreased number of people. The game must have ended. Jason reviews his notes and asks, “What were his other two sons’ names?” I pause for a moment, “Arthur, and I believe Caleb.” Jason reviews a bit more, “What did Prudence die of?” I finish my third whiskey and smirk, “Dysentery.” I order another whiskey and turn to Jason, “May I get back to the story so I can get out of here?” Jason flips the page on his notebook, “Yes, please do.” I rub my eyes trying to remember my place. I let out a sigh and continue.
“After the War in 1865, Arlo returned to his Memphis home where his daughter Elise, now 14, and son Edward, now 9 were under the care of his sister Elizabeth and her son Noah, who was 11. He returned a dark, drunken man with a dastardly secret. After a nightmarish year with his family, Arlo decided he would share his deep dark secret with his son and nephew. Captain Arlo Jenkins, in the year 1864, became close friends with a man who was friendly to the Confederate cause. This man was a renowned stage actor by the name of John Wilkes Booth. Arlo told the boys that he contracted Booth to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln a year later in 1865. Noah was full of rage at what his Uncle had just told him, but knew he couldn’t do anything about it. That is, until August of 1866, when the Captain finally snapped. Arlo, after an argument with Elizabeth, brutally beat her to death with a log. His son Edward tried to calm him down, but was permanently silenced with one sharp blow from the log. He then turned his sights to his daughter Elise. Capt. Jenkins gave her a hard shot to the head, breaking the neck of his daughter. He then dropped the log and started unclasping his trousers. The sick man was about to defile the daughter he just murdered. The sound of a rifle echoed through the house. Arlo looked down and saw the blood start to stain the front of his shirt. Arlo slowly turned around to find Noah aiming a rifle right at him. The grizzled old man stared at the boy for a moment. He dropped to his knees and a smile crossed his face and he said, “Nice shootin’ boy.” Arlo fell to his face as the last breath of air escaped his mouth. He was finally escaping all the death that had surrounded him.”

Jason finished writing in his notebook, “Holy shit! This is the best story I’ve gotten so far.” Jason starts laughing to himself, and it makes me sick. This kid doesn’t understand the path that he’s going down. I look down at the bar and see my untouched fourth shot of whiskey. I down the whiskey and grab my wallet. I hear Jason talking to himself, but I don’t care enough to focus on what he’s saying. I thumb through a couple of bills and pull them from my wallet. I place them on the bar and turn to the kid, “I got your drinks too.” He looks up at me, “Thanks!” I get up from the bar and start to head towards the door. Jason gets up and quickly catches up with me, “I’m sorry, I forgot to get your name for the source.” I place my hat on my head, “The name is Noah Jenkins.” I walk out the door as Jason stood there frozen by my words. I would never see Jason Ray again.

I pull up to the cemetery as my headlights break through the darkness. I switch off the car and grab a light out of the glove compartment. I get out of my car and start to make my way towards the back part of the graveyard. As I walk by all of the people that have been laid to rest, I contemplate what I’m going to say. I get to the final row and walk to the far right end. I stop in front of the third to last gravestone in the row and I shine the light on the name, “Here lies Arlo Jenkins, may he rest in pain.” I switch off the light and walk up to the tombstone, I close my eyes and take a deep breath. When I open my eyes, I’m no longer in the cemetery. I’m standing in the middle of a dark tunnel. I start to walk forward, and as I do torches on both sides of the tunnel light up. At the end of the tunnel I reach a big metal door with a golden dog head knocker in the middle of it. I knock twice and the door opens.

I walk through the door, which leads into a large room with a throne in the middle. As I approach, I hear the sound of several dogs barking. I take another step and a flash of black darts at me. The next thing I know, I’m on the ground and a three-headed dog is drowning me as it licks my face. A deep voice calls off the attack, “Cerberus, enough!” After the mutt retreats to his master, I return to my feet and wipe my face with a sleeve. I approach the man on the throne, “I know we don’t get along very well, but I met someone tonight that you should keep an eye on.” The man in the chair looks up at me with his red eyes and smiles, “You’ve done an excellent job, and although it’s been nice to see you down here again, you really must be going. We will catch up another time.” I turn and start to head towards the tunnel, but as I reach the door, I stop for a moment, “It was good to see you too…Father.” I walk out the door and back into the tunnel. The red eyed man looks on as Noah leaves the throne room. He stands and walks over to a door on the far side of the room and peers into the window. Inside the room, Captain Arlo Jenkins is suspended by chains. The red eyed man can see Arlo’s mouth moving but doesn’t care to hear what he was saying. A light turns on in the room revealing a cannon aimed straight at Arlo. The cannon’s fuse is lit, and the red eyed man can see Arlo furiously attempting to escape his chains, but to no avail. The cannon fires and makes direct impact with the Captain, blowing him to pieces. Moments later the room resets as if nothing ever happened, and the process starts again. The red eyed man turns around and walks over to a fireplace. He stares into the fire. The reflection of the flames on his eyes gives the appearance of burning embers and the red eyed man smiles.

ITB with AB #13: Story Time

What's In The Box:

Hello all and welcome to another week of Inside the Box. This week I introduce something new to the blog. I'm sharing and original short story of my own creation! I hope to periodically start sharing short stories and this one is the first. I hope everyone enjoys the journey Inside the Box!

Story Box:

Turn Off The Light!

by Adam Bach

I was jolted awake by the sound of a blood curdling scream in the distance. My head is throbbing and I bet the room would be spinning if it wasn’t pitch black. What the hell happened last night? I start to move my hands and realize that my left is heavy. I’m holding something but I can’t seem to let it go. I inspect it with my right hand and it’s metal and cylindrical. It has a bit of a rattle to it and that’s when I push down with my left thumb and a beam of blinding light goes off. As I rub my face to try and adjust to the light source I start to see a shadowy figure sitting in the corner of the room. I hear a strange roar in the distance and it sends shivers down my spine.

I yell to the figure in the corner, “What the fuck is going on?” As my eyes slowly adjust to the light the shadowy figure remains motionless but in a low tone I hear a voice say, “Please Mr. Ray, use your inside voice.” I shine the light on the shadowy figure and sitting there is a man in a black suit with his head down wearing a black fedora. As the figure slowly raises his head my eyes widen as the face I see is pale grey with piercing red eyes. “Do you mind Mr. Ray?” I lower that light from his face but I can still see his glowing red eyes. “Who are you and how do you know my name?” The red eyed man snickers and then says, “neither of those are the questions you should be asking right now Mr. Ray. “Well then what am I doing here?” I asked. The red eyed man closes his eyes and lowers his head before speaking, “Mr. Ray would you consider yourself a decent person, a person of dignity?” I answered the question defensively, “Well of course I am, I’m a journalist, I report on the subjects that people want to know about.” The red eyed man lets out one single dubious laugh, “Mr. Ray you partake in ‘Gotcha journalism,’ you have made a living shining a light on other people’s private affairs and destroying them in the media. You are neither decent nor dignified, thus this is why you are here. They say the pen is mightier than the sword and you have rendered kings to commoners with yours.” I sit there in silence. This can’t really be happening can it? “Oh I can assure you this is all real Mr. Ray.” Has he been reading my mind this whole time? “Yes I have,” said the red eyed man. “Now let me answer the question that has been on your mind since we started this little conversation. The light that is attached to your hand represents the light you have shed on others lives with your writing.” “This is ridiculous!” I say. “Please don’t interrupt Mr. Ray, for this next part is very important to the outcome of your current situation. There is a door six paces to your left that will unlock once I leave this room. Much like in here it is pitch black beyond the door. You have spent many years bringing personal information to the light of day, to survive this journey you must learn to work in the dark. If you can find your way out in the darkness you will remain unharmed, however if you choose to rely on the flashlight attached to your hand you will most certainly meet your end, for there is a creature beyond this room that is attracted to the light.” I take his moment of pause as an invitation to ask my next question, “What is to keep the creature from attacking me if it finds me with the light off.” The red eyed man stands up and buttons his suit, “The creature can’t see, hear, smell, or feel. If you encounter it with the light off it will pass right through you. It only gains the ability to attack you if the light is on, so I suggest you turn the light off now. Best of luck Mr. Ray, no matter the outcome you will not be seeing me again.” The next thing I know the red eyed man’s body collapses on itself in a cloud of black smoke. I shine the light over to my left and just like he said there is a door on the far wall. Am I really supposed to believe what this “man” has just told me? I stand up and walk over to the door. I reach for the knob and pause for a moment. I look down at the light in my hand and turn it off. I twist the knob and walk through the door.

I take two steps forward and instantly walk face first into the wall with a “thud!” I mutter under my breath, “Ow.” I place my hand on the wall and start walking to my right. As I cautiously walk with my hand running along the wall as a guide I can feel that it is hard and coarse, almost like stone. Am I underground? Why can’t I remember what happened last night? I reach the end of the hallway and feel around me. I can’t find any surfaces. Am I in an open area? I take a deep breath and hold it in to see if I can hear anything. After a moment I muster up some courage. “Screw this.” I click on the light and shine it around. I find myself standing in the middle of a circular room with three ways I can go. I start heading to the right and that’s when I hear that strange roar again coming from the pathway. I stop in my tracks and start walking backwards. I reach the pathway to the left and I hear heavy footsteps coming from the right. I quickly turn the light off and head down the path using my hand as a guide on the wall. After a moment the only footsteps I hear are mine. As I walk down the hallway I start trying to think back to the last memory that I have outside of this place. The last thing I remember is working on the O’Shaughnessy story.

I walk into my office and see that my assistant Ben Hardy is hard at work finding new leads for my next story. As far as researchers go Ben is the best I’ve ever worked with but we have fallen into a trend of who’s sleeping with who and child stars turned train wrecks. I needed the next big story. “What have you got for me today Ben?” With a surprised gasp Ben knocks his coffee off the desk, “Jeez Mr. Ray you scared the crap outta me.” I grab the tissue box off my desk and hand it to Ben to wipe up the coffee. While he does this I grab his mug and set it on his desk. I take the lid off of mine and pour half of my coffee into his mug. “Sorry Ben and please you can just call me Jason.” Ben looks up at me exhaustedly, “Jason you don’t have to do that.” I take a seat at my desk, “Don’t worry about it Ben. What leads have you found?” Ben sets the tissue box back on my desk, “I’ve found three potential stories but only one seems legit. First, pop star Annie Marigold is reportedly fronting a heavy metal band called Zombie Puppet under the alias of Raggedy Zombie.” “Ha! What else do you have Ben?” Ben adjusts his glasses, “Jason that is the only one that seems legit.” “That’s why I’m not going to cover that one Ben. It makes too much sense.” Ben walks over to his desk and grabs some papers, “The second lead is that Kelly Kahn has been sneaking out of the rehab facility to buy drugs to sell in the rehab facility.” “Really Ben? What’s the last one?” Ben, clearly frustrated shuffles his pages, “Ok, the final lead, which is probably hokum, is that Darren O’Shaughnessy was reportedly seen fleeing the scene of a hit a run four years ago.” “That’s it! Who is the source?”

I reached what seemed to be a dead end but as I listened closely I could hear the whistling of wind. I turned on the flashlight and started to inspect the space. I knelt down and realized there was a small gap between the floor and the wall. I’m able to get my finger tips under the wall and slide the wall up revealing a tunnel. Behind me the echoing footsteps of something big start to reverberate off of the walls. I glance over my shoulder and I hear a loud roar not more than ten feet from me. I quickly turn off the light, crouch down, and crawl into the tunnel. As I crawled through the tunnel I thought to myself, “What is that thing? What am I doing here? Come on Jason remember.”

“Boss we can’t do this story on O’Shaughnessy,” Ben said with a crack in his voice. “Ben are you out of your mind? We found proof that Hollywood’s fastest growing action star fled from a hit and run.” Ben slams his fist on my desk, “Jason our main source is a  homeless man who thinks his best friend is the Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz!” “Yes but he also sits outside of a movie theater that constantly has posters with O’Shaughnessy’s face on them. If you witness something like that you’re going to remember the face Ben.” Ben walks over to his desk and sits down. He gets really quite for a moment and I don’t really think much of it. Ben finally breaks his silence, “Are you going to run the story?” I avoid the question for a moment as I finish typing up an email. I finally give Ben a one word answer, “Yes.” Ben shakes his head and walks across the room and grabs an empty box. Slightly shocked I ask, “Ben what are you doing?” Placing a few personal items into the box Ben says, “I can’t do this anymore, I’m not going to be part of ruining lives anymore.” I watch Ben walk out the door and a level of disappointment rushes through my body, “Fuck him, I can do this myself.”

I reach the end of the tunnel and although I really want to flip on the light, the creature felt a little too close for comfort last time. So I decided to stand up and use the wall as my guide. As I walk down the hallway I start to see a very dull beam of light. As I get closer I start to realize that it’s coming from a door with a small square shaped window in it. As I jog to the door I start thinking to myself, “Is this the end? Am I getting out of here?” When I reach the door I look through the window and see that it leads into a very large looking room. I go to reach for the door knob but there isn’t one. I feel around the entire door to no avail. I look back into the window and see that there is a single chair in the middle of the room with a man sitting in it. On further inspection I realize that the man sitting there is the red eyed man from before. Does he not see me? Why won’t he unlock the door? I start banging on the door and yet it doesn’t seem like he hears it. So I take the bottom of the flashlight and try to break the glass window but after five hard hits there isn’t even a scratch. Finally, I decide to flash the light through the window to try and get the red eyed man’s attention. I turn on the light and shine it into the window. In a huge rush the events of my previous day flood back to me.

Sitting at the table across from me is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen in my life. Her long auburn hair smelled like roses and she has beautiful green eyes. I met her about six months after I printed the O’Shaughnessy story. My career took off like a rocket because of it. It turned out he really did flee the scene of a hit and run that resulted in the death of a sixteen year old girl. His acting career was ruined and he ended up hanging himself in his Malibu home two months later. I got so popular from the story it didn’t matter that Ben quit, I had people coming to me left and right with stories and leads. That’s how I met Megan Yancy. She came to me with a story idea and I asked if we could discuss it over dinner. It turns out that she wanted to do a story about me, about my life. I have to admit I was pretty flattered by this. Megan finishes her salad, pulls out a notebook and proceeds to asking questions, “So Mr. Ray what made you want to be a journalist?” I ignore the question and ask one of my own, “So is it Miss Yancy?” She sets down the notebook, “No Mr. Ray, it’s Mrs., and if this is the only reason you agreed to this then I should probably just go.” Megan gets up and leaves as I sit there and sip at my wine. After a few moments the check comes and I pay for the meal. I get up and walk out of the restaurant and as I’m walking to my car I see Megan walking over to me. I start to apologize for the way I acted in the restaurant, “Mrs. Yancy I would like to apolo…” I stop as I feel a sharp pain burn in my stomach. I look down and Megan has a knife deep in my stomach. I look up at her face. She has a look of anger as tears run down her checks. She twists the blade, “My maiden name is O’Shaughnessy.” My eyes widen as I stare into her green eyes. “She pulls the blade out and thrusts it back into my stomach, “Darren was my brother!” She pulls the blade out again and drives it into my stomach one last time. As I fall to my knees she whispers one last thing to me, “He killed himself because you ruined him, consider this his last request.” Everything starts to fade as I watch Megan walk away.

I lower the flashlight down to my side and look back through the window. The red eyed man is standing right on the other side. I ask him, “So, I have been dead this entire time?” “That you have Mr. Ray but I’m proud of you. You discovered that much faster this time,” said the red eyed man with a smile. What is he talking about? Have I done this all before? “Please tell me, am I in Hell?” The red eyed man laughs as he turns around and walks toward the chair in the middle of the room. He sits down and somehow I can still hear him, “No Mr. Ray, you are in Tartarus.” I take a step back from the door and then it hits me. I never turned the light off! I turn around and the last thing I see is a horned beast pounce at me.

I was jolted awake by the sound of a blood curdling scream in the distance. My head is throbbing and I bet the room would be spinning if it wasn’t pitch black. What the Hell happened last night?

The red eyed man sits on his throne in silence with a big smile on his face. A three headed dog walks up to the throne and he pats all three of the heads. “Good boy,” says the red eyed man.

The End

ITB with AB #12: Comic Books vs. TV Shows

What's in the Box:

This week inside the box I talk about five Walking Dead characters that differ from comic book to tv show. This mostly deals with their length and/or death in each medium with an exception, so there will be spoilers for those not caught up on the series. Also with the recent release and in my opinion the huge success of the new Daredevil series on Netflix, I will be share my top five comic book franchises that need TV adaptions. So open up the box and enjoy!

Walking Dead Box:

I love both the comic version and television version of The Walking Dead and I will admit I didn't start reading the graphic novel until after watching season one of the TV show. With that being said one of my favorite parts of the show is seeing the different ways they have events occur in the show compared to the novel and the elements that are essential and have to appear in both such as Shane's death and the group finding the prison. With that being said I'm going to talk about some of the biggest character differences from novel to TV. I'm mainly focusing on character deaths so anyone who isn't caught up with the show this is your Official ITBwithAB Spoiler Warning!

I'm going to start with my honorable mention this week.

HM. Daryl Dixon: He isn't in the graphic novel and will probably never make an appearance.

I like to think that in the graphic novel the Dixon brothers are off somewhere on there own living off the land and killing as many walkers as they want.

5. Dale: He does serve as a voice of reason in both the novel and the show he just gets to hold that role a bit longer in the novel. In the show aspects of the Dale character get transferred over to Herschel once the character, played by Jeffrey DeMunn, is killed in season 2. In the novel Dale does share a short lived relationship with Andrea before he is bitten which he hides from the group.

He wonders into the wilderness to die but is knocked out by hunters who cut off his leg and eat it. He gets rescued by the group but after dying in his sleep he is shot in the head by Andrea to prevent him from turning. This is the fate of Bob on the TV show. On the show Dale has his guts ripped out in season 2 and is mercy killed by Daryl.

4. Rick: To be honest there isn't a whole lot of difference between novel Rick and show Rick. The biggest difference is the fact that The Governor cuts off his freakin' hand the first time they meet! That's right! Rick from about halfway through the prison story to current time in the novel has no right hand.

Other differences for Rick's character deal with his family. Lori survives Judith's birth in the novel and actually makes it to the end of the prison story arch. However she is shot and killed from behind during the second attack on the prison and falls on Judith killing her as well. Carl even hits some bad luck during the Alexandria story arch as he gets and eye shot out.

Rick does end up starting a relationship with Andrea in the novel which still continuing.

3. Tyreese: In the novel Tyreese shows up shortly after Shane's death (Shane dies before they reach the farm in the novel). He pretty quickly fills the best friend role for Rick, which never gets close to happening in the show. Tyreese arrives to the group with his daughter and her boyfriend.

Tyreese has a relationship with Carol in the novel but ends up cheating on her with Michonne. Ultimately he is killed in the same fashion as Herschel in the show. Knelt down and decapitated by The Governor with Michonne's katana. In the show I just felt Tyreese never really found a role and his death in season 5 just seemed like a really bad acid trip.

2. Andrea: In the novel Andrea was a badass sharpshooter. A role that it seems has been taken over by Sasha on the show. In the novel she has a relationship with Dale until his death and currently with Rick.

On the show Andrea does more whining that anything else and she almost kills Daryl!! She has more of a father/daughter relationship with Dale and she forms a very close bond with Michonne.

1. Carol: The biggest character difference by far! Although she starts of similar by the time we reach season 5 Carol has evolved into a hardcore badass who as no problem threatening a small boy.

In the novel she is more of a flirtatious and emotionally fragile woman. She ultimately commits suicide by letting a zombie bite her after Tyreese cheating on her and being rejected when she suggested a relationship with both Lori and Rick.

Comic Book Box:

Before I start my list of comic book franchises that should receive tv show adaptions I would just like to suggest that anyone who has a Netflix account needs to check out Daredevil. The series is amazing and sucks you in very quickly. Now for other comics that need shows!

5. Y: The Last Man: In this post-apocalyptic story where a plague simultaneously kills all mammals with a Y-chromosome. Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand are the only exceptions to this.

There have been talks of this being developed into a movie for a long time now but I think television is a better place for it.

4. B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense): For anyone who has seen Hellboy the B.P.R.D. is the organization he works for. This could make for a really cool Horror style cop drama.

The show could follow Abe, Liz, and Krauss with occasional cameos from Hellboy.

3. The Punisher: With the success of Daredevil which is a darker and gritter comic tv show I think it's finally time for a Punisher show. I would love if they somehow involved Lexi Alexander (director Punisher: War Zone) in the development.

Although I would love to see Ray Stevenson return to the role for a show I think they should revisit the origin story of the character.

2. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: I may be one of the few people who enjoyed the movie that came out in 2003 staring Sean Connery. My biggest problem with it is that I wanted more from the characters.

With the success of Penny Dreadful, a show that feels very similar to this, I believe these characters could lead to a successful series.

1. 100 Bullets: This franchise was almost a show once already. David S. Goyer (co-writer of the Dark Knight) was working on it for Showtime back in 2013 before it was turned down. There are still rumblings about it being developed into a movie.

With a huge array of characters this film noir style story could be huge...if done right. The simple explanation of the story is that Agent Graves gives people the chance to exact revenge on someone who has wronged them by giving the person a briefcase containing a gun and 100 untraceable bullets.

ITB with AB #11: Comic Book Heroes and Villains

What's in the Box:

This week I share my Top 10 comic book heroes and villains. I'll also share plans for part of my next blog post. So open up the box and take a look!
Comic Box:

Top 10 Heroes:

10. Moon Knight: The Marvel universe's answer to Batman. He has multiple personalities and an awesome butler named Frenchie!

9. Agent Graves: From the series 100 Bullets. Graves is the man with the plan and he has a thing for briefcases.

8. Michonne: From the Walking Dead. The character on the show is pretty similar for the most part to the character in the comic with the exception of a few relationships that happened in the book.

7. Deadpool: Part of the Marvel Universe. This character always sends the reader on a wild ride. Plus he likes to break the fourth wall...Oh and chimichangas!!

6. The Punisher: From the Marvel Universe. Similar to Deadpool minus the humor. The Punisher has no arch nemesis because he kills everyone. He made his comic debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #129.

5. Rorschach: From Watchmen. The only way I can describe him is that he is kind of a mix between Batman and The Punisher.

4. V: From V for Vendetta. Basically Batman if he was solely driven on revenge, killed people, and was British.

3. The Flash: From the DC Universe.

2. Rick Grimes: From The Walking Dead. There are some big differences between the show and comic versions of Rick but I'll save those for another blog.

1. Batman: From the DC Universe. It's Batman!!!

Now for those dastardly villains...

My Top 10 Villains:

10. The Riddler: DC Universe, Batman Rouges Gallery (Batman Villain). So OCD that he has to leave a riddle for Batman whenever he does something which of course leads to him being caught.

9. Ozymandias: From Watchmen. He is the smartest man alive and lives in a world where masked vigilantes are outlawed. Watchmen is a must read for any avid comic book reader! Don't watch the movie first.

8. Harley Quinn: From DC Universe. Batman Rouges Gallery. Although she made her debut on the best animated show ever, Harley is now a staple in the comic books.

7. Venom: From the Marvel Universe, Venom is one of Spider-Man's biggest adversaries. An alien symbiote, venom has possessed many characters in the MU but Peter Parker and Eddie Brock are the main two.

6. Dr. Doom: From the Marvel Universe. Dr. Doom is the main antagonist to the Fantastic Four.

5. Negan: From The Walking Dead. This guy is freaking nuts! So nuts that he might not make an appearance on the show unless they extremely edit his dialogue since in the comics he says F*@k  about every other word. He makes a splash in his comic debut by killing one of the main characters with a baseball bat.

4. Shredder: From the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Shredder is truly the only villain for a group of mutated turtles. This guy is a full on badass ninja!

3. The Governor: From The Walking Dead. This guy paved the way for the hardcore extremist style villain that we have now come to love in the series.

2. Joker: From the DC Universe. He is what Batman could become. He is truly the definition of Chaotic Evil.

1. Magneto: From the Marvel Universe. The guy can control metal which is everywhere!

Final Thoughts:

So for my next blog which could be up on Friday if I can escape the writers block that I'm dealing with will feature something I'm pretty excited to talk about. I going to compare some of The Walking Dead character's comic book and TV show adaptions
